The best of today was getting to spend some QT with one of my BFFs.  We’re both big QT people, so getting to just sit down and talk about everything or nothing is perfect

The best of today was playing Trivia with some of my faves.  I used to play every Wednesday, but when I started teaching, I had to back out…it doesn’t end until 9:30ish, and that’s kind of my bedtime.  Ha.  But this week, since I’m off for February break, I couldn’t wait to play.  We lost, but it was fun

The best of today was watching Schindler’s List for the second time.  The first time I watched it, I was in high school in my social studies class.  At the time, I thought it was so unfair that I had to watch a movie that just absolutely wrecked me and then go to math class.  Now, I think about how unfair it would be NOT to watch it.  What’s unfair is that no one (or at least very few) spoke up for the 6 million Jews that were being herded like cattle to work and die.  And now, it would be unfair not to give a voice to all of those who had their voices stolen.

I was reading Elie Weisel’s acceptance speech after winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986, and he said, “And then I explained to him how naive we were, that the world did know and remain silent. And that is why I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must – at that moment – become the center of the universe.”  I read that a few days ago, but it is still resonating within me, and I truly can’t get it out of my mind.  And to be honest, I hope I can never get it out of my mind.

The best of today was two texts between one of my BFFs and myself talking about how we were BFFs times infinity to the moon and a million other things.  I know it may seem silly, but it was perfect.

The best of today is that I spent the weekend with one of my best friends and one of my favorite pups  I’m on my February break this week, and starting out the break that way was exactly what I needed.  I am so happy to be in my bed watching Downton Abbey with no alarm set for the morning.

The best of today was that it was a fun day at school for me (and hopefully my students).  We put characters on trial in my freshman classes for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.  We weren’t saying that they killed R & J necessarily, but we were saying that they were responsible for their deaths.  It was definitely fun, and I think it was a good way to review.  In my sophomore class, we also reviewed Of Mice and Men for our test tomorrow, and I was really proud of my students for participating and really being able to recall and analyze the text.

The best of today is that I was super productive today.  I got a lot done at school today, which was one of my goals for this semester.  The goal that I set for myself is to be a better steward of my time while I’m at school, and so far, I think I’ve been doing a good job of managing every minute at school.  I don’t want to work super late, and I don’t like bringing work home with me, so my solution is to make sure that I’m spending my time wisely while I’m at work.  I love this goal

The best of today was getting this email from a student: “Hiii Ms. Frisbee . You rock (: and helped me calm down!”  That may not mean much to you, but to me, it meant everything.  I know I say it a lot, and maybe I say it too much, but I LOVE MY JOB.  Seriously.  I am absolutely meant for this.

The best of today was hanging out on the couch with my mom while a fire burned in our wood-burning stove and a movie played.  I love going out and having fun, but staying in is so soothing sometimes.  It was exactly how I wanted to spend my evening.
